About OAMP
In 1991 a group of professionals came together to create a fantastic association that would pave the way we would do business for years to come. Recently the OAMB board found itself in a position that was no longer as effective nor as valuable to its membership. As many of you have already heard the OAMB is now the Ohio Association of Mortgage Professionals or OAMP and is now run by a 7 member elected Board of Governors. We thought long and hard about the decision but it can be summed up quite simply. Forgive me for sounding cliché but for someone or some organization to continue doing the same things day after day and expecting new and exciting results is, so I am told, the definition of insanity. Or at the very least, you are setting yourself up for a big disappointment. You see, the OAMB, much like many of your businesses during these trying times, was forced to make some adjustments in their business model so that it could remain competitive and useful to its membership. More than that, we sought to create an association and environment where other mortgage professionals and those with whom we work so closely day to day could have a forum to communicate with side by side. No longer should the title professional or the appraiser or lender/banker feel like an outsider looking in at association functions. This new platform will undoubtedly bring us closer together as we work through these ever changing times. Our goal is to continue to enhance our profession through the promotion of education, ethical practices, and government affairs representation and consumer fairness. However, now we have a new and very exciting platform which we can work from. If you are currently a member of the OAMB we thank you for your support and more importantly invite you to join us in this the inaugural year of the OAMP. If you are not yet a member the time is now to stop sitting on the sidelines and get involved in an association that is founded on a pledge to supporting this great industry and supporting you as a mortgage professional.
The time is now to get involved and show your commitment to your industry and to yourself. You’ll be given the opportunity to network with others in your industry as well as those in supporting industries. You’ll be informed up to the minute as to changes in our lending environment and be provided with legislative updates as they occur as well as a team that fights for you as changes affect how we do business. We will continue to offer our very popular education courses and plan to bring back a handful of social events as I think we’ve all worked extremely hard this past year to anchor our place in this fine industry.
